July 27, 2026 – Community members are invited to lace up their shoes and support local veterans during Operation Obstacle, a two-mile obstacle course race scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, at Richland Community College.
The event begins with check-in and same-day registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Workforce Development Institute on Richland’s campus. A welcome ceremony starts at 10 a.m., followed by the race at 10:15 a.m.
Held in coordination with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Suicide Prevention Team and Richland Community College, the event is designed to raise awareness of veteran suicide while supporting the college’s Veterans’ Resource Center.
Participants will complete a timed two-mile course featuring 20 to 25 physical obstacles. Finishers will receive a commemorative challenge medal, a goodie bag, snacks and water. Awards will also be presented to the top three male and female finishers.
A non-competitive fun run is also available for those who want to experience the course without racing.
Registration is $35, with proceeds benefiting the Veterans’ Resource Center, which provides free resources, support services and study space for veteran students. Event T-shirts are available for an additional $20 through Sept. 13.
