August 5, 2026 – Longtime community volunteer Beatrice Hall has been named the recipient of the 2026 Johnson & Mears Community Service Award, presented during Tuesday evening’s National Night Out celebration in Decatur.
Hall was recognized for more than three decades of service to the Old King’s Orchard neighborhood. She has led the Old King’s Orchard 4-H Club for more than 30 years and has been actively involved in numerous neighborhood initiatives.
Her volunteer efforts include helping distribute food through the Old King’s Orchard Community Center and teaching children basic cooking skills, along with supporting a variety of community activities over the years.
The National Night Out Committee created the Johnson & Mears Community Service Award in 2023 to recognize outstanding community volunteers and neighborhood ambassadors.
The award is named in honor of Francie Johnson, a longtime Fansfield Neighborhood member and Community Organization of Neighborhoods, or CONO, leader who co-chaired National Night Out for many years, and Helen Jeanne Mears, a dedicated Park City neighborhood volunteer and member of both the National Night Out Steering Committee and CONO Executive Committee.
