August 11, 2026 – Travelers in Decatur now have a new transportation option as FlixBus launches intercity bus service beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The new route connects Decatur directly to Chicago and St. Louis, with onward connections to destinations including Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville and Atlanta through the FlixBus and Greyhound network, which serves more than 1,800 destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The service operates from the Senator Severns Transit Center, located at 353 E. William St., following a partnership approved by the City of Decatur earlier this summer.
City officials say the new service expands affordable transportation options for residents while making Decatur more accessible to visitors. Because the stop is located within the transit center, passengers can also connect with Decatur Public Transit System routes.
FlixBus coaches feature amenities including free Wi-Fi, guaranteed seating and luggage allowances.
Tickets are available through the FlixBus website and mobile app.
