August 18, 2026 – A statewide program providing confidential mental health support to Illinois farm families has a new name and website.

The Farm Family Resource Initiative, which began as a 2019 pilot program serving six counties, is now FARM SOS. The program has expanded to serve agricultural communities in all 102 Illinois counties.

The rebranding includes a new logo and website, ILFARMSOS.COM, designed to make it easier for farmers and their families to find support when they need it.

FARM SOS is a partnership between the SIU School of Medicine, Illinois Department of Agriculture and Illinois Department of Human Services. The program helps farm families navigate challenges including financial and operational stress, personal hardship and mental health concerns.

The service is completely confidential, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at no cost to Illinois farm families. The helpline, 1-833-FARM-SOS, connects callers with trained professionals who can provide emotional support and connect them with resources.

FARM SOS also offers telehealth counseling with up to six no-cost sessions for individuals, couples or groups.
