August 23, 2026 – The Decatur Park District gathered community input Friday on potential outdoor recreation amenities planned for the Clubhouse at Scovill Acres, a 55-and-older activity center.
Community members were invited to a brainstorming session at the Scovill Park West Activity Center to share ideas and provide feedback on possible outdoor activities and recreational features.
During the session, participants reviewed potential concepts and used red and green dots to indicate features they liked or disliked.
The Park District says there was overall positive feedback for several ideas, including a garden club area, a putting green, outdoor games, firepits and seating areas.
The session was part of the Park District’s effort to involve the community in planning outdoor amenities for the new facility.
The Clubhouse at Scovill Acres is projected to be completed and open by late summer of 2027. The $10 million 55+ senior activity center in Decatur officially broke ground on May 5, 2026, with foundation work underway.
