September 7, 2026 – The Children’s Museum of Illinois is partnering with Millikin University to bring back its ChemGirls and ChemKids programs for students in fifth through eighth grade.
The hands-on camps introduce students to chemistry through experiments involving temperature, nutrition, plants, animals and unconventional materials.
ChemKids, which is open to all genders, begins September 12 at the Children’s Museum, with a second session November 7 at Millikin University.
ChemGirls, which is designed specifically for girls, will be held October 3 at the museum and November 7 at Millikin.
The Millikin sessions will focus on plant and animal chemistry, including photosynthesis, yeast, vitamin C and human and animal temperatures. Snacks will also incorporate science concepts.
Each session runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10 per session, with lunch and swag included. Scholarships are available.
The programs are supported by the She Gave Women’s Giving Circle and Ameren. Click HERE for more information.
