March 19th, 2020- Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center, located at 333 S. Franklin St, Decatur, IL, is closed to the general public until further notice. In order for the public to add money to an inmates commissary account, they must utilize the online resource available at www.jailatm.com and follow the instructions on that site.  A link to that site is available on the Sheriff’s Office website under the Corrections tab. If an individual needs to bond someone out of jail, they must call (217) 424-1319 or (217) 424-1320 when they arrive at the lobby doors to the Law Enforcement Center.  An on-duty deputy will permit them access and direct them to the jail lobby.  Only those individuals who are providing the bond and completing the paperwork will be permitted inside the lobby for this process.  Inmates who have scheduled releases that take effect at midnight will still be released and can be met outside the front doors of the first-floor lobby. Attorney’s with clients in the jail will still be permitted access to their clients through the main lobby.  Attorney’s will need to call (217) 424-1319 or (217) 424-1320 when they arrive at the front doors of the lobby and a deputy will permit them access and direct them to the jail lobby. The Records Division of the Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (217) 424-1321 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, for questions regarding that division. Deliveries will still be accepted at the Law Enforcement Center for the Sheriff’s Office. Drivers will need to call (217) 424-1319 or (217) 424-1320 and they will be permitted access and directed where they need to go to complete their delivery. The Sheriff’s Office is in continuous communication with state and local health agencies and will reopen the lobby as soon as it is deemed safe for the general public.
