March 19th, 2020- Decatur Catholic Charities, serving Macon, Moultrie and Shelby counties continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and is committed to maximizing the safety of our staff, clients, volunteers, board members, and you and your family. Decatur Catholic Charities will continue to offer services to the most vulnerable populations in our community.
However, effective immediately, the following changes are being implemented:
Food Services
- The food pantry will continue its regular hours and appointments are not needed to receive food. The pantry is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- The Catholic Charities Food Pantry will continue food operations with these changes:
- A maximum of 10 clients at a time will be allowed inside the building.
- Pre-filled food boxes based on supply and not based on family size will be distributed – no product substitutions will be allowed.
- The food pantry will continue to accept non-perishable food donations by appointment only. Please call (217) 428-6772 to schedule a donation.
- Scheduled Mobile Food Pantry deliveries will continue at this time, but food boxes may be reduced due to product availability.

4 Seasons Resale Shop
- The 4 Seasons Resale Shop is closed to shoppers until April 1, 2020. However, donations of clothing and other household merchandise are being accepted. A drop-off box is located at the front of the store for donations.
Senior Services
- The East Central Area Agency on Aging has requested Decatur Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels program to temporarily deliver meals to Congregate Meal sites. Additional volunteers could be needed.
- The Meals on Wheels home-delivered clients are asked to put bags by the front door for meals to be deposited to avoid any face to face contact. Volunteers are offered masks and gloves when delivering. Additional volunteers may be needed.
- All staff and volunteers are being asked to review the basic precautionary guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention located at www.cdc.gov.
Additionally, if in-home visits are required, screening questions are being asked prior to planned visits or in-office appointments. Please keep in mind this situation is fluid and as more changes occur we will keep you updated. “We will continue our mission to treat everyone with dignity and respect during these difficult circumstances.
