April 30, 2020 – The Illinois State Board of Education has suspended in-person graduation ceremonies of any kind at this time and DPS61 is now shifting plans to hold a virtual ceremony.
For several weeks now, DPS administrators and principals have been considering all options to find the best way to honor seniors and the Class of 2020.
DPS says it plans to postpone traditional in-person graduation ceremonies for EHS and MHS until Saturday, July 25. That will still be contingent on later guidance from State Health Officials.
In the meantime, DPS is planning an entirely virtual celebration for late May in accordance with ISBE Guidelines.
Those plans are currently in the works, and they plan to have more information to share once the virtual celebration is finalized.
For 8th grade, individual schools will plan virtual ways to honor their 8th graders as they move on to high school.
