March 12, 2022 -The Good Samaritan Inn is serving up Irish Stew this St. Patrick’s Day for its first Office Lunch of the year, with proceeds going to the Noon Meal Program at Good Samaritan Inn.

Local offices and businesses purchased meals for $10 each with the menu featuring both beef and vegetarian Irish stew in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The event sold out, selling 850 meals in total.

“The most fun aspect of the event is all of the gifted lunches, whether it’s a business providing for their employees, or people donating lunch to other offices,” says Executive Director Nicky Besser.

The Community Foundation of Macon County is honoring first responders with 100 lunches delivered by their Young Leaders in Action program. “YLIA members have a heart for our community,” says YLIA Facilitator Temethia Joyner. “They are committed to recognizing our hard-working first responders serving on the front lines.”

Linda Castleman, a regular supporter of Good Sam, is supporting DOVE Inc. with a staff lunch. “March is ‘Thank a Social Worker month. I am able to show my appreciation to Dove workers while supporting another great community service by participating in this event,” says Castleman.

State Farm Agent Melanie Schelling has participated in all three Office Lunches over the past 1.5 years and has sent lunches to several businesses across Decatur. “Every lunch has been delicious – it’s an awesome way for me to treat my staff and show appreciation for our local partners,” she says.

HSHS St. Mary’s has been the event’s greatest supporter, ordering more than 1,000 lunches in the past year. “We have a very strong partnership with The Good Samaritan Inn – this is one way we can help further their mission while providing our teams with a free meal,” says Valerie Jordan, Director of Oncology Services at St. Mary’s Cancer Care Center and Good Samaritan Inn Board Member. “Our colleagues love the food, and we know the proceeds are helping provide essential services to our community – a real win-win.”
