March 21, 2022 – Three vehicular carjackings involving Dodge Chargers took place this past weekend in Decatur.

Victim Vehicle: black 2019 Dodge Charger (FOUND WRECKED)
Suspect Vehicle: Dark colored sedan.
Description: The victim had just parked his vehicle. The suspect vehicle (dark sedan) parked a couple of spaces away in the parking lot. Two (2) male suspects with masks and hoods exited the vehicle and one produced an item that looked like a gun. Suspects rushed the victim who threw a punch and then fled. One suspect took the victim’s vehicle and the other left in the original suspect vehicle. Within minutes, the victim vehicle was found abandoned & wrecked in the 1400 Blk of E Mound Rd.

Victim Vehicle: white Dodge Charger (NOT TAKEN)
Suspect Vehicle: dark blue or black sedan with heavy tint
Description: The victim had his vehicle parked at his apartment while he was carrying items back and forth from the car. Suspect vehicle was parked across the parking lot from victim vehicle. Two black male suspects with masks and hoods approached victim and displayed handguns. The victim’s keys and phone were stolen and the victim fled to his apartment. The suspects attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle but abandoned their efforts and fled in the suspect vehicle (possibly because they didn’t know how to drive a manual transmission.) There were possibly more suspects in the suspect vehicle.

Victim Vehicle: white 2011 Dodge Charger
Suspect Vehicle: dark (possibly red) sedan with heavy tint.
Description: Victim was traveling E/B on Pershing Rd approaching intersection with N Monroe St when the suspect vehicle rear-ended the victim at very slow speeds. Victim inspected damage to his back bumper and got back in car. Suspect vehicle honked horn and victim re-exited his car. Suspect wearing masks and hoods exited suspect vehicle and pointed handgun at the victim, stealing victim’s keys, phone, other items, and car. Victim advised there were 3-4 B/M suspects between those who committed the hijacking and those still inside the suspect vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and a lengthy pursuit ensued. The victim vehicle was eventually lost and is still missing/stolen.
