June 4, 2022- Families in the Decatur Macon County area attended Airport Fun Day, where the kids got the opportunity to learn about planes, climb aboard the Park District’s Striker emergency vehicle, and fly with the pilots.
The event was scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. The annual event resumed after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kids 8-17, had the opportunity to fly in the planes. Experimental Aircraft Association provided young eagle flights, free of charge.
In addition to aircraft activities, there was a bike park area for children, courtesy of the Decatur Park District.
The event was free of charge and open to the public.
