September 10, 2020 – Yesterday, the City of Decatur announced that one of their Public Transit bus drivers has tested positive for COVID-19.  It was the first known positive COVID-19 test of one of their drivers.  The bus driver last worked on September 3rd, and the City of Decatur is asking anyone who rode the South Shores Ravina, the MLK, or the Monroe 21C route on September 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to pay attention for flu-like symptoms over the next few days or to go and get a COVID test done.

The Decatur buses are deep-cleaned and disinfected nightly and surfaces that are commonly touched are cleaned throughout the day.  Since April, fare collections have been suspended and passengers have been entering the rear of the bus to cut down on contact with drivers.  Both drivers and passengers have been required to wear masks and supplementary buses have been added to cut down on passenger count to allow for social distancing.

Drive-through COVID testing is available for free at the Decatur Civic Center for anyone who wants to be tested.
