April 18, 2023 -Decatur Public Schools is inviting community organizations and businesses to adopt a school at an upcoming information event.
“Decatur Public Schools is very lucky to have the support of our community. We hear you say you want to be involved, you want to help our students, you want to lend a hand, so now is the time to put action to it!”, the district said in a release.
DPS is looking for community groups, churches, businesses, and organizations willing to build relationships with the schools to support student success. Partners and schools would work together to determine how to best connect partner resources and interests with the school’s unique needs.
DPS61 will hold an “Adopt A School” kickoff event this Thursday April 20th from 3:30pm to 5pm at the Shilling Education Center at Scovill Zoo. There, businesses and organizations can meet DPS Principals, learn about the school’s unique needs, and find out how you can become an Adopt A School partner. DPS61 is asking for a commitment of at least one day a month.
