Luke Combs Makes Time’s ‘Time100 Next’ List

By Music News Feb 17, 2021 | 6:00 PM

Luke Combs has made the list of the 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time’s TIME100 Next list. He joins a who's who of global superstars in their respective fields who are “poised to make history,” according to Dan Macsai, editorial director of the TIME100.

Each person on the list is praised by one of their respected peers, and Garth Brooks weighed in on Luke. He wrote, “In this age of self-promotion, Luke Combs is letting everybody else do the talking for him. That’s big in country music, which is all about sincerity and humility. And—despite his achievements, including winning Best Album at the 2020 Country Music Awards—Luke has both of those in spades. He realizes that being a star is not up to him: the people will confirm it.

Everything Luke tries—from Brooks & Dunn to classic country, neoclassic country and today’s country—he sounds very much at home. He’s a singer who you can tell is really comfortable.

If I could pull him over and tell him one thing, it would be to just keep doing what he’s doing. Just follow that music. What resonates with him will resonate with the audience, with me, with everybody who’s listening.”

Luke is joined on the list by fellow artists Dua Lipa, Phoebe Bridgers, Lil Baby and Ana de Armas.

Luke, Dua Lipa, Phoebe Bridgers and Anitta will perform for TIME100 Talks Presents the 2021 TIME100 Next on Friday (Feb. 19th) at 1 p.m. ET .

Tonight (Thursday, Feb. 18th), Luke will share a live concert from his pre-pandemic What You See Is What You Get Tour at 8 p.m. ET. The show took place at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. It will livestream for free on Luke's official Facebook and YouTube channels.
