July 17, 2021 – Former Decatur Park District board member Jack Kenny was a part of the board for 28 years. Now he will be a part of Red Tail Run forever.
Yesterday the Red Tail Run Golf Clubhouse was officially dedicated to Jack in recognition of his 28-year service.
The Park District saw many additions in Kenny’s time, including Rotary Park, the Decatur Indoor Sports Center, and the Splash Pad. Friends, Family, and former co-workers were there to celebrate and talk about Jack and his accomplishments.

“When I think of Jack, I think of someone who has dedicated his time, given up some things with his family, just to make Decatur that much better. He sacrificed a lot so that we can have some of the great amenities that we have in this Park District,” said Stacey Young, President of the Board of Commissioners. “He raised his family in Decatur and he has been a staple in many projects and volunteer efforts. He’s been so many things to so many people. Jack is multi-faceted, and you knew he was doing it because he loved it and not because he had to.”
“I think Jack’s legacy is more than the Park District. It’s a part of Jack’s legacy. Jack was in the education system for 40 years, so when you put his service to the Park District, his service to Decatur Public Schools, that legacy is something I hope his family looks back on decades from now and is extremely proud of,” said Bill Clevenger, Executive Director of the Decatur Park District. “This clubhouse, Jack was the president of the park board when we opened it and it’s fitting that now we’re here tonight celebrating the Jack Kenny Clubhouse.”
