October 8, 2021 –  For 20 years, Kroger has been the host of the largest one-day food drive in the nation.  A fact not lost on Kroger Spokesperson Eric Halvorson.

“This is a remarkable community commitment on WSOY’s part, and it shows how one agency can help fight hunger.”

Kroger presented a donation totaling $30,000 to the Food Drive, with three equal contributions going to the Community Foundation of Macon County, The United Way, and Crossing Healthcare for food and security.

“We are relying on excellent sources, and these programs help go toward that same battle of getting food to those in need,” Halvorson stated.

Halvorson says he has fond memories of the food drive. “It just shows how everybody can make a difference to get rid of hunger in this area. I have loved being a partner in all this.”

To give to the WSOY Community Food drive, you can give online HERE, drive through the Kroger on Rt 36 from 6 am to 6 pm, or call 875-3350 to make your donation online. Donations are tax-deductible.
