May 6, 2022 – While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health condition during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health.
There are practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency – and there are ways that everyone can be supportive of friends, family, and co-workers who are struggling with life’s challenges or their mental health. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Heritage Behavioral Health Center is highlighting #BacktoBasics – what individuals can do daily to prioritize their mental health, build resiliency in the face of trauma and obstacles, support individuals who are feeling unwell, and work towards a path of recovery.
During May, they are exploring concepts related to mental health. These concepts include: gaining a better understanding of mental health, recognizing and owning our feelings, connecting with others, and implementing self-care strategies. Mental health is just as essential as physical health. Getting #BacktoBasics will help us to become more comfortable with talking to others about mental health. Normalizing the conversation about mental health empowers people to talk and get the help they need. The tools we use to keep us mentally healthy will be unique.
Heritage Behavioral Health Center wants everyone to know that mental health challenges are real, and recovery is possible. By going #BacktoBasics, we can learn about mental health, become more comfortable talking about it, normalize that we all have mental health, and find ways to strengthen our overall wellness. Heritage will be hosting a variety of free activities to promote #BacktoBasics during the month of May.
