February 13, 2023 – Decatur Public Schools are partnering with several Central Illinois colleges and universities to host a hiring fair this Wed.
DPS61 says they are looking for teachers, teaching assistants, maintenance, security, food service staff, bus drivers, and more. DPS stresses that they will pay for an applicant’s education to become a certified teacher or to further their career in education.
Eastern Illinois University, Grand Canyon University, Illinois State University, Millikin University, Richland Community College, and University of Illinois at Springfield will all be in attendance at the Hiring Fair on February 15 to talk with current and prospective employees about options to further their education. DPS does reimburse staff for tuition costs.
The District also recently launched TeacherReady, an accelerated program for current substitute teachers to get their teaching certification, paid in full by DPS.
Alltown and Aramark, as well as DPS labor union representatives, will all be at the hiring fair to talk to potential candidates.
