Feb 23, 2023 | 12:10 PM

February 23, 2023 – Young Leaders in Action (YLIA) of Macon County is accepting grant application until next week for nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools, aiming to impact the mental health of youth in Macon County. The grant application portal will close on February 28 at midnight.

To apply, visit the YLIA Facebook page or The Community Foundation of Macon County website. In order to qualify for this grant, your organization or group must have a project targeted toward mental health for students (K-12). Macon County nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools are qualified to apply. Youth-led groups are encouraged to apply for this grant.

YLIA Grant Team Chair, Drew Petitt, “I am more excited than ever about the grant this year! Being a member of the team last year to now being chair of the team this year makes me so excited. I love that we chose a “hot topic” as our focus this year. With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the lives of many, mental health is a battle for many, but especially youth. I am so excited to see how our grant this year can once again, make a change in Macon County.”

“This year our grant theme is one that I hold dear. Over the summer a team of YLIA members completed an action plan, at the CGTI youth leadership conference, that centered on the mental health of our local high school students. Watching their work unfold in Macon County has been incredible,” says YLIA Program Facilitator Temethia Joyner. “Knowing that they will be funding a project that will impact the mental health of yet another group of young people is a strong example of how committed they are to elevate the future of our community.”
