June 22, 2023 – Organizers and sponsors of the Mobile Museum of Tolerance are wrapping up the tour with a chance for two local organizations to receive racial equity grants.

The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is currently located in the parking lot of DMH. If 125 people visit the museum today, Thursday, June 22, between noon and 6 pm, the DMH Foundation receives a $1,500 racial equity grant. Tomorrow, Friday, June 23, if 125 people visit the exhibit from 9 am to 3 pm, the Decatur Family YMCA will also receive a $1,500 racial equity grant.

Sponsors stated that just by attending the free museum on one of these final two days community members will be helping DMH and the Y each receive a grant.

The Mobile Museum of Tolerance uses innovative technology and interactive lessons to teach messages of tolerance to communities across Illinois.

The mobile exhibit is sponsored by The Community Foundation of Macon County, in partnership with Decatur Memorial Hospital.

As the first of its kind in the country, its goal is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to promote human dignity and raise their voices against antisemitism, bullying, racism, hate, and intolerance.

The free MMOT experience, which tours around Illinois, shows 3 videos totaling about 18 minutes in length, focusing on civil rights, the Holocaust (5 mins), and Anne Frank in her own words from her diary (8 mins).
