March 28, 2024 -Former Decatur City Manager Tim Gleason is making a return appearance as Decatur City Manager, pending an official vote by the Decatur City Council.

Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe announced the Decatur City Council’s intention to hire Gleason to fill the shoes of retiring City Manager Scot Wrighton. Gleason served as Decatur City Manager for three and a half years from 2015 to 2018 before taking a position as City Manager for the City of Bloomington. The city then hired current city Manager Scot Wrighton, who announced that he will retire in May of 2024.

Gleason’s salary would be $230,000 annually. Other notable benefits include six weeks paid vacation, and a $650 monthly vehicle allowance that will be transferred to a deferred compensation retirement plan. Additionally, Gleason would get one year to establish permanent residency and $20,000 toward relocation expenses, as Moore Wolfe said he is looking for a home within the City limits, but he may choose to build.

Before his first stint in Decatur, Gleason held positions as the City Administrator for the City of Washington, IL, a Deputy Director of the IL Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO), and a law enforcement officer for the City of Pekin for 21 years.

An official vote on Gleason’s employment contract is planned for the April 1, 2024 City Council meeting. If hired, his projected start date is May 6, 2024.
