April 8, 2024 – The inaugural performance of “That’s What She Said”, a one-night live performance showcasing personal stories from women who have shaped the Macon County community, was a great success, selling over 600 tickets.

The Heart of Illinois Community Foundation brought the national program to Macon County after seeing its success in other communities. Natalie Beck, President and CEO of Heart of Illinois said that they knew the event had seen great success in Champaign for the past ten years.  “Our team traveled to Bloomington last year and immediately I said I wanted to bring it to Macon County. We have wonderful women here who need to be on the stage and have a story to tell.  Tonight I am proud to bring that to life”, Beck said.

Presented by Hickory Point Bank & Trust, That’s What She Said featured 10 local women who shared their personal stories on stage in a bold and vulnerable performance. Speakers included Laura Cornille-Cannady, Tina German Roberts, Amanda Hooker, Linda Huck, Jamie Muscato, Dr. Dana Ray, Marie Shaffer, Sheryol Threewit, Katie Warnick, and Stacey Young.

The event also presented grants from the She Gave Women’s Giving Circle to The Children’s Museum of Illinois, CJ’s Loving Hands, InPower Ministries, Milligan Academy/Futures Unlimited, Project Read, and Old Kings Orchard

Proceeds from the performance on Saturday will continue to support The She Gave Women’s Giving Circle.
