April 23, 2024 – With the school year winding down, District 61 has announced the last day of school and graduation dates for the class of 2024.
The last day of school is Tuesday, May 28 for the District, however students of Dennis Lab School will remain in session until Tuesday, June 18. The school year was extended for students at Dennis Lab School due to the Dennis building being condemned last year and the school year starting later to accommodate those students.
Graduation ceremonies for MacArthur High School and Eisenhower High School will held on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This year’s ceremonies will be held outdoors at the school’s football stadiums. Guests of graduates must present a ticket for admission and no re-entry allowed; gates will open one hour prior to the commencement of the graduation ceremony.
MacArthur High School’s ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. at 1499 W. Grand Avenue on Bob Matheson Field. Eisenhower High School’s Ceremony will be held at 2pm at 62522 1200 S. 16th Street on John Alexander Field.
Prohibited items for graduation include: balloons, noisemakers, signs/posters, outside food or drink, illegal drugs or vapes of any kind, weapons, and no large purses or backpacks larger than 6.5” x 4.5”. Small clutch purses will be allowed.
