January 14, 2026 -The Decatur Police Department reported multiple impaired driving arrests and traffic citations during a holiday enforcement campaign conducted in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies across the state.
The enforcement effort ran from December 12 through January 5 and was part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI.” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns. Officers focused on identifying impaired drivers and ensuring motorists were wearing seat belts.
According to police, the campaign resulted in 15 impaired driving arrests, including alcohol- and cannabis-related offenses. Officers also issued four seat belt citations, along with additional citations for speeding, distracted driving, and other traffic violations.
Police said the initiative aimed to reduce crashes and improve roadway safety during the busy holiday travel period.
The enforcement campaign was administered by IDOT using federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and was part of Illinois’ “It’s Not a Game” statewide traffic safety program.
