July 1, 2026 – The City of Decatur, the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) and its National Night Out Committee are inviting residents to attend the 43rd Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Dansby Park.
The free community event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the park, located at 2230 W. Center St.
National Night Out is an annual campaign designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve while promoting neighborhood engagement and crime prevention efforts.
This year’s theme is “Stronger, Safer Together.”
Activities will include free food, lawn and yard games, a foam party, prizes, face painting, bounce houses, a touch-a-truck display, a mobile zoo and music from a DJ. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet local officials and representatives from police, fire and other community organizations.
Organizers will also present a special award recognizing a deserving Neighborhood Ambassador for contributions to the community.
National Night Out is held annually in communities across the country and involves partnerships among local governments, law enforcement agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, civic groups and neighborhood organizations. More than 17,000 communities and an estimated 38 million people are expected to participate in events nationwide this year.
