October 29, 2026 – Millikin University’s School of Music is bringing a diverse lineup of musical performances to the community with its 2026-27 Faculty Recital Series.
The series features four free concerts showcasing Millikin faculty in performances ranging from Brazilian music and American compositions to French chamber works and a tribute to Decatur-born jazz vocalist June Christy.
All performances will begin at 4 p.m. in Kaeuper Hall inside Perkinson Music Center on Millikin’s campus. The concerts are free and open to the public.
The series opens Sunday, November 8, with “Brasiliana,” featuring guitarist Dr. Mark Tonelli and friends. The performance combines live music with film to explore Brazilian musical traditions and the creative process behind Tonelli’s latest release.
The remaining performances include “American Soundscapes” on February 21, 2027, featuring trumpet, cello and piano; “Pastels and Panache: Colorful French Works for Double Reeds & Piano” on March 14; and “Decatur’s Jazz Legacy: Honoring June Christy” on April 18. The final concert will celebrate the life and music of the Decatur-born jazz vocalist.
Millikin School of Music Director Brian Justison says the series gives students and community members an opportunity to experience the artistry and professional musicianship of the university’s faculty.
