November 8, 2026 – HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is inviting the community to honor loved ones during its annual Christmas Star Lighting ceremony.
The event will take place Wednesday, December 2, at 6 p.m. at the hospital, located at 1800 East Lake Shore Drive in Decatur.
Each light on the Christmas Star represents someone special. Community members can purchase a light in honor or memory of a loved one with a suggested donation of 50 dollars.
During the ceremony, the names of those being remembered or honored will be read, with attendees invited to share in prayer and song. The names will also appear in a full-page tribute in the Decatur Tribune.
Those wishing to participate must submit their tribute and donation by November 23 to have their loved one’s name included in the ceremony program.
