Thanks to a federal grant awarded to the Macon-Piatt Regional Office of Education, Community agencies including Crossing Healthcare, Decatur Family Ymca, the Salvation Army and Webster Cantrell Youth Advocacy are partnering for a series called “Keeping our Kids Safe”.
In this episode, Brian Byers of NowDecatur.com had an opportunity to sit down with Nadine Machkovech, founder and CEO of “RISE TOGETHER”, a grassroots non-profit organization that exists to prevent addiction by encouraging young people to use their voice for change.
Featured on the TEDx stage, profiled in Forbes, and recognized as a national survivor advocate from the National Safety Council, Nadine uses her personal story of opioid addiction and recovery to teach other young people and parents how to recognize the signs of substance abuse.
