Episode 6 – Mental Wellness – Domestic Violence

In episode 6 of Mental Wellness, Tanya Andricks of Crossing Healthcare is joined by Teri Ducy of Dove, Inc., Behavioral Health Supervisor Charmaine Robertson, and Mental Health Counselor Abby Fritzgerald to discuss the issue of domestic violence. Domestic violence can include more than a spouse or romantic partner and this episode dives into the signs that there is a problem. They also discuss local resources, how to get help, and ways loved ones can assist someone who they suspect is a victim of domestic violence.

About Abby Fritzgerald:

Abby Fritzgerald, MA, LPC, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Olivet Nazarene University and a Master’s degree in Human Development Counseling at the University of Illinois in Springfield (UIS). She previously worked at Crossing Healthcare for several years and provided support for survivors of abuse and domestic violence. She currently works as a Mental Health Counselor in Indianapolis. She also has a passion for anti-human trafficking work and in 2014 started The Set Free Movement-Macon County group as a way to raise awareness and provide training for local agencies and community groups. About Teri Ducy:

Teri Ducy is the Director of Dove Domestic Violence Program in Decatur, IL. She currently has worked for Dove over 30 years in a variety of positions with the program. She began as the Administrative Specialist in 1990 and followed up as a Legal Advocate, Client Services Coordinator and has been the Director of the program since 1998. Teri has been an IL Certified Domestic Violence Professional since 2002. Teri oversees a staff of 22, which includes a total of 5 offices in Macon (where the domestic violence shelter is located), DeWitt, Piatt, Moultrie and Shelby Counties in Central IL. She is a member of the IL State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and serves on the Services Committee on the State level. She is passionate and committed in working with victims of domestic violence and working towards peace, justice and understanding among all people.

About Charmaine Robertson:

Charmaine Robertson-Stoner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for Crossing Healthcare. With 11 years in the field of Social Work, Charmaine has significant experience assessing and educating on the complex bio-psycho-social factors related to patients with emotional and physical trauma histories, who require mental health support, substance use treatment, and a continuum of care.
