January 27, 2026 – Trading cards featuring sports legends Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Troy Aikman, and other Hall of Famers are among the items available in the online ICash auction hosted by Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs, but time is running out.

The auction will run through February 1 and includes approximately 150 lots, some of which feature multiple items. In addition to collectible sports cards, the auction includes a 100-ounce silver bar, historic coins, comics, jewelry, and memorabilia.

Notable items include basketball cards of Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Patrick Ewing; football cards featuring Troy Aikman, John Elway, and Marshall Faulk; baseball cards of players such as Ryne Sandberg, Greg Maddux, Derek Jeter, and Lou Brock; and comics featuring characters including Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Spawn.

Additional items up for bid include admission tickets from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, an 1883 Morgan silver dollar with original packaging, a 1918 Illinois Centennial Lincoln half dollar, and several silver and turquoise rings.

The auction is conducted through the HiBid platform, where prospective bidders must register and create an account before placing bids. A full catalog of items is available online.

The Treasurer’s Office holds online auctions periodically throughout the year due to limited storage space and also conducts an annual in-person auction during the Illinois State Fair. Auction proceeds are retained indefinitely for the rightful owners, regardless of how much time passes.

Treasurer officials encourage Illinois residents to check the state’s ICash database, noting that an estimated one in four people who search the site discover unclaimed property belonging to them.
