March 26, 2026– Memorial Specialty Care Cardiology has added new electrocardiogram, or EKG, equipment aimed at improving cardiac care for patients in the Decatur area.

The equipment, funded through support from the Decatur Memorial Foundation, cost approximately $21,500. Officials say the machine uses advanced signal processing technology to provide clearer and more reliable heart readings, helping physicians detect conditions such as arrhythmias, heart attacks and other cardiac disorders.

The system also integrates with electronic health records, allowing test results to be transmitted directly into patient charts, reducing the need for manual data entry and minimizing potential errors.

Healthcare leaders say the addition of the equipment has improved workflow efficiency and reduced wait times for patients receiving cardiac testing.
