April 5, 2026— A student from Maroa-Forsyth High School has been recognized as one of the top student leaders in Illinois agriculture.

Gehrig Bunselmeyer was named a Top 10 Section President by the Illinois FFA, an honor awarded to students who excel in their leadership roles at the sectional level.

Bunselmeyer, who is the Section 16 President, is one of 10 students statewide to receive the recognition and will be honored later this year at the Illinois FFA State Convention.

As part of the award, recipients are invited to attend the Premier 20 Leadership Conference later this month in Bloomington, where students from FFA and 4-H will take part in leadership and professional development training.

Other students recognized across the state represent schools in Henry, LaSalle, Livingston, Morgan, Montgomery, Monroe, Clay, and Perry counties.

The program is supported by the Illinois Farm Bureau, which sponsors leadership development initiatives aimed at preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Officials say the recognition highlights student achievement and the continued importance of agricultural education in Illinois.
