April 21, 2026 – The Children’s Museum of Illinois will host its annual Duck Derby fundraiser on May 3, featuring rubber duck races and family activities.
The long-running event, now in its 30th year, invites participants to purchase numbered rubber ducks that will race on a water-propelled track. The owner of the winning duck in the final race will receive a $3,000 grand prize, with additional prizes of $1,500 and $500 for second and third place.
Organizers say up to 3,000 ducks will compete in multiple heats throughout the day. Proceeds from the event support museum programs and operations.
In addition to the races, the event will include free outdoor activities such as games, music and bounce houses, along with paid admission for indoor exhibits. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
