April 22, 2026 – The Midwest Music Expo 2026 will return May 2 with a new focus on revitalizing a key corridor in the city.

Organizers say this year’s event, titled “Occupy Oakwood Street Fest,” will take place along the 100 block of South Oakland Avenue in Decatur, transforming vacant storefronts and public spaces into a temporary arts and entertainment district.

The event will run from noon to 10 p.m. and feature more than 20 musical acts performing across multiple indoor and outdoor stages. In addition to live music, the festival will include vendor booths, artist pop-ups and community-focused activities designed to highlight the potential of the Oakwood corridor.

The Midwest Music Expo, founded at Millikin University, began as a student-led music business conference and has grown into a regional event showcasing artists and industry professionals.

Admission to the festival is free, with organizers encouraging optional donations to support ongoing efforts to expand programming and community engagement. An after-party is also planned following the day’s events.
