April 27, 2026 – A national effort to support military funeral honors will have a local presence in Central Illinois next week.
Operation Honor Guard is partnering with Calvert & Wikoff to host a Day of Giving on May 6, aimed at raising funds and awareness for volunteer honor guard teams.
Organizers say the initiative supports the men and women who provide military funeral honors for veterans, ensuring they receive proper recognition at the end of life. The Decatur collection site will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to donate and learn more about the mission.
Supporters can also contribute online at OperationHonorGuard.us. Organizers say donations help address ongoing challenges such as limited funding, aging equipment and declining volunteer numbers among honor guard units.
