May 5, 2026 – Grammy-nominated artist and former “American Idol” standout Danny Gokey is set to perform in Decatur this weekend, bringing an evening of uplifting music and inspiration to the community.
The concert will take place Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Kirkland Fine Arts Center on the campus of Millikin University. The performance is part of the venue’s 2025–2026 Artist Series.
Gokey first gained national attention as a Top 3 finalist on American Idol Season Eight and has since built a successful music career. His debut album My Best Days reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and he has gone on to release multiple No. 1 albums, including Hope In Front of Me, Rise, and Haven’t Seen It Yet. His catalog features popular songs like “The Comeback,” “Love God Love People,” and the Gold-certified singles “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” and “Haven’t Seen It Yet.”
“Danny Gokey brings an incredible combination of vocal talent, uplifting music, and a personal story that resonates deeply with audiences,” said Bryan Diver, director of Kirkland Fine Arts Center. “We are excited to welcome him for a performance that will inspire, encourage, and provide a memorable evening of music for the Millikin and Decatur communities.”
Over the course of his career, Gokey has earned three Grammy nominations, multiple K-LOVE Male Vocalist of the Year honors, and two Dove Awards, with his music charting across the United States, Canada, and Latin markets.
Beyond music, Gokey’s message is shaped by personal loss and resilience. Following the death of his first wife, he turned to music for healing and later founded Better Than I Found It, a nonprofit that supports organizations making a difference in communities.
