September 24, 2026 – The 10th Annual Nick Project brought fire safety awareness to Millikin University’s campus Wednesday.
The event was held in the University Commons and provided fraternities, sororities and off-campus students with free fire safety equipment and information to help them prepare for emergencies.
The Nick Project was created by Millikin alumna Sophia Schwalbach in memory of her brother, Nick, who died in a house fire in 2000.
The event featured fire extinguisher demonstrations from CC Fire Equipment and presentations from local fire personnel on fire prevention and how to respond quickly during an emergency.
