October 8, 2026 – The Illinois Secretary of State’s Mobile DMV program has completed more than 62,000 transactions at events across the state since January 2023.
The program has held more than 1,700 events, providing driver and vehicle services in communities outside traditional DMV facilities.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, mobile operations have issued more than 50,000 REAL IDs, driver’s licenses and state identification cards. The program has also conducted about 2,600 road tests and processed more than 8,500 vehicle registration sticker transactions.
Some events use self-contained DMV on Wheels units equipped with internet access, while others operate as pop-up events at community locations.
The Secretary of State’s office works with municipalities, businesses, universities and other organizations to host the events.
