September 17, 2020 – Join the Macon County Conservation District for a weekend of history programs on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th.  Saturday at 10 a.m. young children with one adult buddy can attend Preschool Peepers: Vintage Toys and Games at Rock Springs Nature Center.  This program will show kids the toys children in the 1800s played with and give them a chance to play games like graces, jacks, ring-toss and more.  All ages are welcome.  If you’re interested in Preschool Peepers, register online by Noon on Friday, October 2nd.

Sunday, October 4th Homestead Prairie Farm is hosting an Archaeology Open House between 2 and 4 p.m. where people of all ages can help uncover artifacts.  During the recent restoration work on the Trobaugh-Good House, dirt was removed from under the farmhouse and staff and volunteers have been attempting to learn more about the home by screening the dirt to see what they can find.  You’ll be able to see what has been found so far, and help staff sift through more of the dirt which has been undisturbed for over 100 years.  Homestead Prairie Farm is located at Rock Springs Conservation Area.  There is no registration required.

Both of the events are free.  Face coverings are required and social distancing should be observed.  For more information or directions, go to MaconCountConservation.org.
