June 22, 2022 – The Decatur Area Arts Council will hold a Social Ballroom Dance and other Ballroom Classes at the Madden Arts Center this summer.
The Social Ballroom Dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and go until 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. This event will be held at the Madden Arts Center on the ballroom on the third floor. Tickets, which are available here or at the door, are $10 per person.
The music mix will cover all the essential rhythms for partnered social, nightclub, and ballroom dancing styles. There will be a mix of Foxtrot, Waltz, Night Club Two Step, Jitterbug (East Coast) Swing, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Rumba, and Cha Cha.
There will also be ‘Ballroom Standard 1’ Classes held at the following dates and times on the third floor ballroom of the Madden Arts Center:
- July 7 – 28, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
- August 4 – 25, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
- September 1 – 22, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
For each month long series, registration is $32 per person.
This is beginner ballroom dance with intermediate highlights for those who are brand new to ballroom dancing or looking to improve their current dance skills. The focus will be on good lead and follow connection. Dances covered will include Standard Foxtrot, American Smooth Waltz, Night Club Two Step, and Jitterbug/Single-Time Swing if time allows. Each session is a one hour class along with extra practice time.
