October 13, 2020 – Owners of boats on docks on Lake Decatur are being advised to check their docks and boat as necessary due to the gradually decreasing lake level caused by below-average rainfall over the last two months. Lake Decatur’s water elevation is 612.5 feet above the mean sea level, which is two feet below the full summer elevation of 614.5. The level will continue to decline slowly until a significant amount of rain happens.
The City is not concerned about the amount of water – Lake Decatur is currently 81% full. Property owners adjacent to the lake are being encouraged to take advantage of the water level to remove debris from their shoreline if they believe it is safe to do so.
