July 19, 2022- The Macon County Conservation District held a memorial service to dedicate a fountain in honor of Richie Wolf, the former executive director of the MCCD, who passed away in 2021.
Wolf first served with the Conservation District in 2013, as Nature Center Manager for Rock Springs Nature Center. In 2019, Wolf became the executive director of the Conservation District, a role he held until his death in 2021.
“Richie was a programmer and he really enjoyed giving presentations to kids and adults and everybody about the importance of protective the environment and conservation,” Ethan Snively, Natural Resources Manager said.
The Richie Wolf Memorial Fountain was donated by the Decatur Camera Club. The fountain resides in the Native Plants Garden.
“He really loved this place and being outside, so a fountain like this in this garden, at this building, I thought was a perfect memorial to him,” Snively said.
Wolf’s family was presented with the original plaque from the fountain.
