Maroa-Forsyth Victorious Over Rockridge to Advance to State Semifinals

November 13, 2022 – The Maroa-Forsyth Trojan’s football squad won their matchup on Saturday, November 12, against the Rockridge Rockets as part of the IHSA – Class 2A Quarterfinals.

With a final score of 21-7, the Trojans will march on to face the sixth-ranked Tri-Valley Vikings on Saturday, November 19, at 1:00 p.m. as part of the State Semifinals.

The Trojans saw a balanced attack on the ground and in the air. Junior Quarterback Kaiden Maurer completed 14 of his 15 pass attempts for a total of 150 yards on the game. Maurer also provided some much-needed rushing with 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

Senior Aiden Riser stepped up to punch home the victory with 74 more rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Junior receiver Zayn Giles didn’t add a touchdown but had 62 yards on six receptions.

On the defensive side, Maurer couldn’t be stopped as he had two interceptions. Drilon Ballazhi held down the fort as he tallied six solo tackles with one assist.

The Trojans will no prepare to face a Vikings team that is coming off a 28-21 win over the third-seeded Wilmington Wildcats.
