February 2, 2023 – The Children’s Museum of Illinois is celebrating Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday with an adults only event and fundraiser.
The event will be held on Tuesday, February 21st from 6pm-9pm at the museum and will feature food, music, games and fun.
Part of the festivities will include the crowning of the Mardi Gras King and Queen, Zach Shields and Debbie Bogle. Shields is the Executive Director of the Decatur Public Schools Foundation and Bogle serves as President of United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois.
Food will be provided by Jeremy Morris and The Box, which will include Blackened Catfish, Mini Muffalatas, Cajun Cornbread, and Gumbo. Beer an wine will be included in the ticket price and there will be a selection of fine bourbons will be available for purchase as well.
The event will also include music from The Sidewalk Stompers, a Traditional Jazz band playing a unique repertoire of rags, blues, and novelty tunes that date from the early 1900s.
No Mardi Gras event would be complete without king cakes, and Wildflour Artisan Bakery will be whipping up some traditional King Cakes as well as a variety of additional flavors like Maple Bacon, Red Velvet, Black Forest, and Strawberry n Cream.
The Children’s museum will also have a raffle for brewery packages straight from Louisiana, and a Lucky Lockbox Challenge with chances to win available for purchase.
