February 23, 2023 – Greg Webb, Vice President, State Government Relations at ADM,  Zach Shields, Executive Director, Decatur Public Schools Foundation, Becca Merrill, Lead Ag Instructor (MacArthur High School) and Owen Raleigh, FFA Student at MacArthur High School, joined Byers & Co to discuss National FFA Week ( Feb. 18-25) and ADM’s Career Day for DPS61 High School Students (Feb. 24).

FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success. Members are future chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields. Each year in February, FFA chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. It’s a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day. Today, the FFA reflects growing diversity where members can discover their talent through valuable hands-on experiences, exploring interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways.

With Decatur Public Schools being home to one of the largest and fastest growing FFA chapters in the state, DPS61 have been celebrating the week with a Day of Service, FFA Alumni Day, Ag Teacher Appreciation Day, Give FFA Day and National Wear Blue Day.

ADM has a long history of partnering with the FFA. The FFA and Andreas Ag Academy collaborates with agribusiness companies across Illinois and ADM serves as a key partner in connecting students to future jobs within the industry. In addition, ADM colleagues volunteer at local FFA chapters in Decatur and Macon County as well as across the country.

As part of ADM’s Career Day at Eisenhower and MacArthur High Schools, several ADM colleagues will speak with students about important pillars of the company, including Food Science, Engineering, Science & Technology, as well as Operations. As a leading global nutrition provider and premier agricultural origination and processing company, ADM is relying on the next generation of leaders to find new ways to meet the nutrition needs of a growing world population.
