December 3, 2020 – With the Illinois Department of Public Health asking people to stay home as much as possible and avoid group gatherings, the Macon County Conservation District has decided to close Rock Springs Nature Center through Friday, January 1.  The Macon County Conservation District has also decided to suspend all public programs and events through the same period of time.  Mini Camp Nature Kits are still available through curbside pickup only, and there are virtual history programs coming this winter.

All Conservation Areas (which include Rock Springs Conservation Area, Fort Daniels Conservation Area, Sand Creek Conservation Area, Friends Creek Conservation Area, and Griswold Conservation Area) will remain open for hiking, walking, and exploration.  If you visit those areas, the Macon County Conservation District asks that visitors keep social distance from people outside of your household.  Pets remain welcome to enjoy the conservation areas but must be leashed at all times.
