March 2, 2023 – The Central Illinois Political Action Committee (CIPAC) has announced its support of candidates for the local election to be held on April 4, 2023.

According to CIPAC, legislative incumbents are largely considered based on their voting record with the business community, however, all candidates are asked to complete a questionnaire on issues of importance to local businesses. CIPAC says they extensively researched all candidates running for Decatur City Council and Decatur Public School Board in order to gain a further understanding of individual views on business and political issues facing Decatur and Macon-County. CIPAC endorsed the following candidates:

Decatur City Council: Dennis Cooper, Lisa Gregory, Pat McDaniel

Decatur Public Schools: Bill Clevenger, Mark Reynolds, Hannah Wolfe

In a statement, CIPAC stated “we recognize the importance of having pro-business candidates in office to serve as a powerful voice to advocate on behalf of the local business community. After a rigorous review of individual policy positions, CIPAC chose to endorse the candidates who will best promote the business climate in Decatur and Macon County.”

Questionnaires were sent to all candidates running and endorsements are based on received responses.
