June 22, 2026 – The City of Decatur is extending its tree debris cleanup efforts following recent storm damage, allowing additional time for residents and property owners to request curbside pickup.
City Public Works crews continue to remove tree limbs and debris from both public and private property as part of ongoing cleanup operations.
Residents who need assistance are asked to have all tree debris and limbs—cut to less than six feet in length—placed at the curb no later than Thursday, July 9. City crews will not enter private property for collection.
Requests for pickup can be submitted using the City of Decatur Public Works online form or by calling 217-875-4820 before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.
Officials remind residents that piles should contain only tree debris and limbs. No garbage, building materials, fencing, or paper landscape bags will be collected. Crews will not remove contaminated piles.
The city says crews will continue to pick up all reported tree debris piles as part of the extended cleanup effort following weekend storms.
