July 29, 2025 -The Governor Richard J. Oglesby Mansion & Museum has added a new attraction, a free little library.
“The Governor had a great love of reading. Our board thought this free little library will be an appropriate way to honor him,” said Dave Davis, President of the Board.“Mrs. Carolyn Ogen, great granddaughter of the governor was kind enough to donate most of his book collection to our museum. His original books are housed in his original library which is the most original room in the mansion,” explains Davis.
The free little library was provided by a grant from the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations. The board has put some period appropriate topic books in the library and newsletters and other historical brochures.
